This makes putting in and taking out pretty tricky, especially solo as there is also nowhere good to beach near these ramps as they're surrounded by rip rap and rocks. Parking is extremely limited at both of these ramps, and, critically, NEITHER RAMP HAS A COURTESY DOCK OF ANY KIND. There are two other boat ramps, a day use ramp and another ramp intended for use by those staying at the boat-in campsites. If you don't make it before the cutoff, you will not be boating today. Only thing that could have been better would be a better. Just BE WARNED: The main boat ramp (by the ranger station ) will fill up to capacity by 9 am at the latest. The mountain spring-fed Lake Jocassee encompassed by the Jocassee Gorges, waterfalls accessible only by boat and some of the best South Carolina trout. We stayed in site 34 with a 33ft camper and full size long bed truck. Super clear water, several waterfalls that fall directly into the lake and big mountain views. Which is just fine, because WOW what a lake it is! There are very few lake houses, no marinas and the number of boats put in at the three ramps are limited daily so the lake is super quiet. There are almost zero amenities here besides the lake. Now let's talk about the park and the lake (trust me, you're here for Lake Jocassee). It wasn't bad enough to keep me from using the shower. ![]() The land around 7,565-acre Lake Jocassee remains mostly undeveloped and the only public access point to the lake is through Devils Fork. The bath house could use some updates, primarily to the showers, but I've definitely seen a lot worse. The mountain spring-fed Lake Jocassee encompassed by the Jocassee Gorges, waterfalls accessible only by boat and some of the best South Carolina trout fishing are all part of the allure of Devils Fork State Park. Neighbors were quiet, hosts were friendly. Plenty of space, level enough, and the "back in" difficulty level was a 5 or 6 out of 10.
